Uncover unadvertised sportscasting job opportunities

Eighty percent of sportscasting jobs can be found on the Internet. The other 20 percent are unadvertised. Find them by using a technique called the referral interview letter. Send an email to an employer asking to schedule a brief conversation about the best ways to conduct a job search. Do not include a resume and be sure to mention that you know he doesn't have any openings. Your purpose is not to ask for a job. Near the end of your scheduled call, ask if there is anyone else he can suggest that you speak to. Then, when you call those folks, you can say you were referred by so-and-so. Usually by your third call, someone will tell you where there is an opening.
