(March 31, 2011) After considering nearly 3,000 applications, the Chicago Cubs have announced the hiring of Andrew Belleson as their public address announcer.

The Cubs' three-week search for the new voice of Wrigley Field began online and included live auditions at the ballpark. The team received 2,954 applications for the opening.

Belleson, an Arlington Heights native, performed public address announcer and radio broadcast duties for the Rockford RiverHawks for five years. The Cubs said Belleson grew up idolizing Harry Caray and has attended Cubs games since childhood.
