(March 30, 2011) Danny Parkins, 24, has been named as the new weekday 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. host at 610 Sports Radio, according to an announcement by station officials today.

“The Danny Parkins Show” makes its debut on Monday, April 4th.

Parkins will replace Shan Shariff, who resigned this week after about a year on KCSP to accept a morning talk show position with KRLD in Dallas/Forth Worth.

Parkins, a Chicago-area native, was most recently the noon-to-2 p.m. show host on WSKO-AM “The Score 1260” in Syracuse, NY. for just nine months. While there, he also served as the post-game show host for Syracuse University football and basketball. He’s also done various work for WSCR-AM “670 The Score” in Chicago and the Fox Sports Radio Network.

Part of Parkins' family resides in the Kansas City area, and he spent a good deal of time going to Chiefs, Royals and KU games while growing up.

“One thing we’ve done consistently at 610 Sports Radio is to try and bring fresh, energetic talent into the marketplace,” says KCSP Program Director Ryan Maguire.

“Danny fits in with that philosophy. We’re confident that his engaging style of talk-radio and familiarity with the sports scene here will make for ‘must-listen’ radio.”

Parkins is a 2009 graduate of Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School for Public Communications.
