(March 29,. 2011) Yes, 105.3 The Fan is tweaking again. But this time it's not merely another shuffling of the deck, but more so a commitment to talk sports in the morning.

Out at The Fan as of April 8 are long-time radio veterans Jagger and Gregg Henson, to be replaced Monday, April 11, by "New School with Shan and RJ," a more sports-centric show hosted by former Kansas City sports talk host Shan (pronounced Shawn) Shariff and long-time 103.3 FM ESPN voice RJ Choppy. Sticking with The Fan's goal of spicing its flavor with female voices, Jasmine Sadry will remain a part of the new morning team.

"New School" will air weekdays 5-9 a.m., with the remainder of The Fan's lineup remaining intact.

While 1310 AM The Ticket's George Dunham and Craig Miller have a stranglehold on morning drive-time radio listeners, it's The Fan's hope that a show founded more on local sports can win its battle for second place with ESPN's nationally syndicated Mike Golic & Mike Greenberg.

While Jagger and Henson -- two consummate professionals I thoroughly enjoyed working with -- did not have their expiring contracts renewed, Shariff, 30, comes to Dallas -- via Maryland -- from 610 Sports KCSP, Kansas City's home of the Royals, Kansas Jayhawks and NASCAR.

Choppy served several roles during his nine years at ESPN Radio, from reporting on the Dallas Cowboys, anchoring Dallas Mavericks' pre- and post-game shows and co-hosting shows all up and down the time slots. He even, once upon a time, hosted a show with someone named Greg Williams.
