(March 25, 2011) For the first time since the Mavericks moved to Adelanto from Riverside in 1991, they will not broadcast their games.

Assistant general manager Eric Jensen said last week that the team looked at the number of listeners and decided that the money would be better spent at the stadium and for those attending the games.

High Desert, which broadcasted on TALK 960 in recent years, will be the only California League team not broadcasting games this season. The Bakersfield Blaze will only broadcast a partial schedule over the airwaves, while the San Jose Giants will have their games called through milb.com, which is where Mavs fans can catch other teams’ broadcast of High Desert games.

Prominent announcers have come through High Desert including ESPN broadcaster and former Florida Marlins play-by-play man Roxy Bernstein and MLB Network Matt Vasgersian.

High Desert begins its season on April 7 at Lake Elsinore.
