WQAM winning in MiamiCourtesy

(March 18, 2011) We haven’t updated radio ratings in a long time, so here we go: In the most recent full months available (December and January), WQAM won every daytime head-to-head battle with 790 except 3 to 7 p.m., where Le Batard beat Rosenberg narrowly, including 2.6 to 2.2 in January among men 25 to 54.
Rose has been beating 790’s Jorge Sedano in morning drive among men 25 to 54 (3.7 to 2.0 in January), but 790 said Sedano wins among men 18 to 34. WQAM’s Gino Torretta and Steve White beat The Ticket’s airing of ESPN Radio’s Colin Cowherd from 10 a.m. to noon, 1.9 to 1.6. From noon to 3 p.m., WQAM’s Michael Irvin and Kevin Kiley beat 790 (some Cowherd, some Sports Brothers), 2.2 to 1.8. WQAM general manager Joe Bell said he is happy with both Irvin’s and Torretta’s shows — which launched last year — and “both are in the long-term plans.’’ • WMEN’s Steve Lapa has bolstered his lineup in recent months by adding Armando Salguero and Alzugaray. The station gets good numbers among men 18 to 34, but its overall average share is low. Read more at
