(March 18, 2011) Former Rams offensive tackle Orlando Pace has invested in Grand Slam Sports, which owns sports-talk stations KFNS (590 AM) and KSLG (1380 AM) plus St. Louis Sports Magazine. Grand Slam president Dave Greene said Pace's stake is about 15 percent, the same as Innovative Marketing Group — which is headed by Greene and James Oelklaus, who run the company's day-to-day operations. Robbins Consulting Group (led by Todd Robbins), is the primary investor, at about 35 percent. Among the other owners is former Blues forward Keith Tkachuk, who has about 7 percent.

Greene said he was introduced to Pace several months ago by KFNS and KTVI (Channel 2) sportscaster Martin Kilcoyne, saying they "met to talk about him doing some broadcasting.

"He had done an hour with Martin right before then and shocked us with how good he was on the air,'' Greene added. "I jokingly told him he hadn't said a word in his Rams days, so we were surprised when he had so much to say. Nothing really came of our meeting and then we reconnected through our mutual friendship with (former Ram) Roland Williams. ... We met again and really found mutual passion for sports and for media and the more we talked the more we realized what a great fit he could be as a partner in the company.

"We also wanted a partner who could put 'Big Walt' (Tkachuk) in his place if he got out of line, so 'Big O' serves dual roles.''

Greene said Pace and Williams might end up on the air occasionally.

"My goal is to find a way to have them on together on a more regular basis and be heavily involved in our NFL and Rams coverage,'' he said.
