(March 15, 2011) Gregg Zaun is coming home after signing a two-year deal with Rogers Sportsnet as its full-time MLB analyst. Zaun, who has been an analyst for Sportsnet’s MLB playoff coverage for the past five years, will continue in that role for Sportsnet, Sportsnet Radio FAN 590 & Sportsnet Radio FAN 960 as well as sportsnet.ca.

“We are excited to have Gregg back on the team,” said Rob Corte, Vice-President, Production, Rogers Sportsnet. “His knowledge of the game and candid analysis makes him a must-watch for baseball fans. The pairing of Zaun and Jamie Campbell has drawn great reviews in the past, and we look to continue that success going forward.”

Zaun’s duties begin with the network’s spring training coverage on Sportsnet Connected as well as on the MLB Preview Show later this month. In-studio he will once again work with host Jamie Campbell during the MLB regular-season and post-season. In addition, he will handle the analysis for 24 Toronto Blue Jays broadcasts on the Blue Jays Radio Network.

“Sportsnet is exactly where I saw myself landing after life in the major leagues,” said Zaun. “This network is where I always wanted to be and I couldn’t be more ecstatic. It’s like coming home.”

Zaun spent 16 seasons in the majors as a catcher starting with the Baltimore Orioles in 1995 and captured a World Series championship with the Florida Marlins in 1997. He enjoyed five seasons with the Jays from 2004-2008, where for the first time in his MLB career he was the starting catcher. He began his broadcasting career with Sportsnet after the Jays closed out their 2006 season. Zaun announced his retirement from Major League Baseball earlier this month.
