(March 4, 2011) When it became clear a big league coaching gig was not in the cards for Larry Bowa in 2011, I was hoping the Phillies and/or Comcast SportsNet could find some way to work the Phillies legend into the broadcast rotation - a couple/few innings of color, pre- or post-game duty, radio, whatever.

Never happened. Perhaps the Phils are a little skittish about giving the fiery Bowa a microphone and a forum to air his opinions.

Turns out Bowa will have a forum in Philadelphia this baseball season, it just won't be during Phillies broadcasts. It was announced late Thursday afternoon that Bowa will be joining the lineup at 97.5 The Fanatic for the 2011 season.

Bowa will co-host the 10:00 AM to noon mid-day show on Mondays, taking phone calls from listeners. On Tuesdays he'll join Tony Bruno & Harry Mayes at 12:30 PM and on Fridays Bowa will be on the air with Mike Missanelli at 3:30 PM. In addition to his work with The Fanatic this season, Bowa will continue his work as a studio analyst for MLB Network.

Bowa wasted no time sharing his opinions with Missanelli yesterday when he made the announcement. He said the patella tendonitis in Chase Utley's right knee is a genuine cause for concern, and that the Phillies should consider sending the struggling Domonic Brown to minor league camp for a few games where he can get an at-bat an inning in an effort to work on his swing and his psyche.
