(March 2, 2011) Collegiate sportscasters have just two weeks to apply for the 2011 Jim Nantz Award, presented by STAA. The deadline is April 1st.
The Nantz Award is the crown jewel of STAA’s All-America program, annually honoring the nation’s most outstanding collegiate sports broadcasters. The 2011 Nantz Award will be presented May 16th at the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association's annual awards banquet in Salisbury, NC. “The aim of the STAA All-America program is to encourage collegiate sports broadcasters nationwide to strive to achieve their professional best,” says STAA CEO Chelesnik. “We also want to recognize those students who have worked exceptionally hard to develop their sports broadcasting skills.” Jim Nantz Award candidates are ranked according to their ability across multiple radio and TV sports broadcasting genres, including play-by-play, sports update anchoring and sports talk show hosting.
