(February 21, 2011) Ben Ingram is getting called up from Double-A to the major leagues.

Ingram, the play-by-play radio announcer for Mississippi Braves games the last three years, will join the Atlanta Braves Radio Network this spring, doing pre-game and post-game interviews for Atlanta station WCNN, 680 The Fan.

“We are extremely happy to have Ben as part of our Braves Radio Network in 2011,” Derek Schiller, the Atlanta Brave’ executive vice president of sales and marketing, said in a statement. “He has a thorough understanding of our organization and has a unique outlook of our players, having seen many of them come through Mississippi.”

“We are extremely excited for Ben,” said M-Braves general manager Steve Desalvo in a statement. “This is a great opportunity for Ben to move up to the big leagues from Mississippi. This is just another example of talent we are able to help develop on the field and off the field as well. Ben is one of the best sports radio talents I've seen in a long time, and we wish him nothing but success in Atlanta.”

Ingram, a Mississippi College graduate from Madison, called the promotion an “Opportunity of a life time and a dream come true for me,” in a statement released by the M-Braves. “Words can’t express how supremely honored I am to represent the Atlanta Braves and Dickey Broadcasting. Everyone that is involved with the Braves broadcast is extremely talented and first class. It will be such a privilege to work with them, as well as learn from them.”

A replacement for Ingram on the M-Braves’ broadcasts has not been named.

(STAA note: While a Ben Ingram's replacement has not been named, he has been chosen.)
