(February 16, 2011) Dan Shulman is returning to TSN.

The network announced yesterday that the veteran ESPN broadcaster will be a regular contributor for TSN’s baseball coverage.

Shulman will continue to work at ESPN where he will be the new play-by-play voice of Sunday Night Baseball.

The Toronto native began his career at TSN in 1995, providing play-by-play commentary for Blue Jays games. The deal is the latest thrust in an escalating sports media war between TSN and its largest competitor Rogers Sportsnet. Most recently, Sportsnet secured well-known Globe and Mail columnist Stephen Brunt and late last month hired popular Toronto Star writer Damien Cox, who was expected to join TSN.

TSN also recently hired Mike Richards away from Rogers Sportsnet Radio The Fan 960 in Calgary. It’s expected, though not confirmed, that TSN will soon launch an all-sports talk radio network of its own to take on the The Fan stations.
