(February 10, 2011) Vancouver’s TEAM 1410 is now the official voice of Vancouver Whitecaps FC, with exclusive radio broadcast rights to the club’s matches for the next two years. The new deal makes TEAM 1410 the home of all 34 regular season matches, all playoff games, and all international “friendly” matches, kicking off with the club’s MLS debut at Empire Field against Toronto FC on Saturday, March 19.

“Local sports teams and their fans are key elements in the success of Team 1410,” said James Stuart, Vice-President and General Manager, CHUM Radio Vancouver. “We’re thrilled to add the Whitecaps to our already strong roster of local sports programming and we’re thrilled to be able to deliver these games to a large audience of committed fans.”

“We have had a partnership with TEAM radio for nearly a decade and I am thrilled that we are able to grow this relationship, as we transition into Major League Soccer,” said Paul Barber, Chief Executive Officer, Whitecaps FC. “It’s going to be an exciting year for our club, our city, and the province of British Columbia, and we are looking forward to delivering top-level soccer to an even larger fanbase with the help and expertise of TEAM Radio.”

TEAM 1410’s broadcast will immediately become the most dedicated in Major League Soccer. In addition to the match broadcasts, TEAM 1410 will feature full pre-game and post-game coverage that will be available on radio and online, with audio archives on teamradio.ca. TEAM 1410 will also air a daily Whitecaps FC show Monday to Friday that will include player and coach interviews, expert guest analysis, news on Whitecaps FC women, Whitecaps FC Residency, Whitecaps Foundation, the club’s involvement in the community and more. Broadcast talent will be announced in the near future.
