Joe Block joins Dodgers Talk
(February 9, 2011) Joe Block has been named co-host of Dodgertalk, the award-winning postgame call-in show which airs on the Dodgers’ flagship station, TalkRadio 790 KABC in Los Angeles. Joe will join Josh Suchon on the broadcast and replaces co-host Ken Levine who has accepted a play-by-play position with the Seattle Mariners for the 2011 campaign.
“We are proud to welcome Joe into the KABC/Dodger broadcast family,” states KABC Program Director, Jack Silver. “With a busy off-season, we know the Dodgers are in great shape for 2011 and Joe, along with STAA client Josh Suchon will let the Dodger fans have their voices heard on Dodgertalk after every game.” Block, 32, comes to L.A. via New Orleans, where he worked for four seasons hosting “Hornets OT,” broadcast on the multi-state Hornets Radio Network. He also hosted the pre-game and halftime shows plus served as the backup play-by-play broadcaster. In addition to his work in the NBA, Block called college football, basketball and baseball play-by-play for regional TV networks Comcast Sports Southeast and Cos Sports Television. He has also called Major League and minor league baseball play-by-play on radio for nine seasons, including four seasons with the Jacksonville Suns, then the Dodgers’ Class AA affiliate. Among the players on the Suns during Block’s tenure were Matt Kemp, Chad Billingsley, Hong-Chih Kuo, Jonathan Broxton and James Loney, plus others. “I’m humbled by this opportunity and eager to get to work,” said Block. “I’m genuinely excited to be back in the Dodger family and to co-host a show with Josh that captures the passion of the fans.” Read more at
