(January 31, 2011) With pitchers and catchers reporting to Mesa, Ariz., for spring training on Feb. 13, the Chicago Cubs could be close to naming a replacement for the late Ron Santo in the radio booth.

Barring a late development, former Cubs Keith Moreland and Dave Otto are the finalists for the spot in the booth next to play-by-play man Pat Hughes, a source told the Chicago Tribune.

WGN general manager Tom Langmyer told the paper he would like to announce a replacement before spring training begins.

Moreland pinch-hit on television over the past few years when Bob Brenly was on vacation. Otto had been a regular replacement for Santo when he was scheduled for time off or sick days.

Earlier this month former Cubs pitchers Rick Sutcliffe and Dan Plesac were ruled out of the search.

The Cubs and WGN Radio will make the decision on Santo's replacement.
