(January 27, 2011) The Tri-City Dust Devils have named Jason Schwartz as the team’s new radio play-by-play broadcaster.

A Los Angeles native, Schwartz graduated from University of Southern California and is the play-by-play announcer for USC women’s basketball.

“We are excited to have Jason join our staff as the voice of the Dust Devils,” general manager Derrel Ebert said in a news release. “Jason is a young exciting broadcaster that will bring a freshness to our broadcast that our fans are going to enjoy.”

Schwartz is familiar with the Northwest, having spent the past two summers broadcasting in the West Coast Baseball League, first with the Wenatchee Apple Sox in 2009 and last season with the Corvallis Knights.

"After spending the last couple summers in the Pacific Northwest, working in the Northwest League has been a goal of mine,” Schwartz said. “It's an honor to have been selected as the Dust Devils' new radio voice. I'm thrilled for this opportunity and can't wait for the season to begin."

Mike Boyle, who had been team broadcaster of the Dust Devils since 2007, is the new broadcaster for the Spokane Indians. He replaces Bob Robertson, who retired after 12 seasons with the club.

All 76 Dust Devils games will be broadcast live on Newstalk 870 AM, at dustdevilsbaseball.com and newstalk870.am.
