(January 24, 2011) Versus has put a National Lacrosse League package in its net.
The Comcast-owned network has reached an agreement calling for it to air nine professional box lacrosse league match-ups, bookended by the circuit's 2011 All-Star Game on Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. (ET) and its championship contest. Financial terms of the deal, which was negotiated on behalf of the league by IMG Worldwide, were not disclosed. The national television package, the schedule for which will be unveiled at a later date, also features regular-season and playoff games. "Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport and the NLL features the most talented, toughest lacrosse players in the world. Versus is the perfect broadcast partner for us to showcase our dynamic league to a national audience," said NLL commissioner George Daniel, in announcing the deal. "We are very excited to announce this new partnership with the National Lacrosse League and to be able to televise this fast growing sport on one of the fastest growing sports cable networks in the country," noted Versus vice president of programming Jeff Goldberg.
