Pittsburgh Internet station launching

(January 18, 2011) Media veterans and former athletes will be among the personalties featured today when Trib Total Media launches Sports Talk on Trib Live Radio on its website, www.triblive.com.

Programming will be live from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, and will include sports news and information that will loop 24 hours a day.

The first show runs from 9 a.m. to noon, with hosts Chris Mack and former Penguins player Rick Tocchet. From noon to 1 p.m., longtime sports anchor John Steigerwald will present what he calls "sports talk for regular human beings."

From 1 to 5 p.m., Ken Laird will be joined by former Steelers cornerback Deshea Townsend and former Pitt basketball player Julius Page. Mack and Laird worked for many years in Pittsburgh on ESPN Radio.

Trib Total Media sports writers and other guests will also appear on the station.

Future programs are also planned, with the goal to expand to 24 hours of live material, according to Jennifer Bertetto, Trib Total Media vice president and chief operating officer.

"Five years from now, Internet radio will be the predominant leader in radio," she said.
