(December 28, 2010) Former K-State basketball star and sports broadcaster Ron Paradis was found dead at his home. According to the Topeka Capitol Journal, Topeka police say his death appeared to be natural and that he was found in his bed.

Paradis played basketball for Washburn Rural High School and Kansas State University before moving on to a career in radio and television broadcasting.

Greg Sharpe, who credits Paradis with his start in broadcasting says his mentor was one of a kind "You know he really was a trailblazer. He was doing a sports talk radio show in the era where there weren't hundreds of them across the dial and across the country. It was one of the first in the midwest and you know he took a chance on doing something that nobody else really had done and he had thing called Paradis Productions where a lot of people would call it very zany, but in the era of television now, it would've fit in perfectly. So he just was ahead of his time in so many different ways"

While a memorial service for the public will be held, details have not been finalized.
