Powell, Marotta return to Phoenix radio
(December 16, 2010) Chuck Powell and Vince Marotta, the men responsible for past radio successes like Bare Naked Sports and The Morning Ritual, are combining their talents once again. Chuck and Vince Live will premier Monday, January 3, 2010 on Valley sports radio station The Fan AM 1060 (KDUS). The show will run Monday through Friday from 6:00 to 10:00 a.m. Chuck and Vince Live will be a production of GOAT Media Group, LLC, an outfit formed by Powell, Marotta and veteran Valley radio sales guru Lee Rosenthal, who will serve as president of the company. “I am extremely proud to be associated with two Phoenix radio icons, who started in Phoenix over ten years ago. We promise you'll be entertained and will enjoy the journey we will take you on,” Rosenthal said. “Our goal is to continue to bring you entertaining and relevant content across a number of different platforms. "Powell came to the Valley in 1999 after working as a national sports talk show host at the Las Vegas-based SportsFan Radio Network. In 2000, Powell teamed with Marotta to form Bare Naked Sports, which received acclaim from critics and listeners alike. The duo reunited on the Valley’s FM dial in 2003.
The Morning Ritual was a ratings hit while again receiving critical acclaim. The show was named The New Times Morning Show of the Year in 2005. Now, they’ll take their talents to The Fan AM 1060. “I am very thrilled to have Chuck and Vince join our team. I have known them for quite some time and am looking forward to working them. They bring a wealth of sports knowledge and will be a very entertaining morning show,” KDUS program director Angel Velasquez said. Powell and Marotta are excited as well for the new opportunity to get back to their roots in sports radio, while adding their unique takes to online media as well. “I won't kid you, I strongly considered joining the Miami Heat. But I decided Arizona is home, I want to work with Vince again, and it's time we returned to sports radio,” Powell stated, while Marotta added, “I’m ecstatic to get back on the air, especially with Chuck. We’ve got a unique chemistry together, and for my money, he’s the most talented on-air guy in the country.”Chuckandvince.com, the show’s official website is online as well. It will not only function as a vehicle for fans of the show, but as an online destination for sports fans looking for great original content. “Chuck and I both love to write, and we’ll do a lot of it on chuckandvince.com,” Marotta said.
