Mount Union to expand radio coverage

(December 10, 2010) Mount Union has expanded its radio play-by-play coverage this weekend as 1570AM The Blizzard (Warren/Youngstown) and ESPN 970 AM WFUN (Ashtabula) have picked up coverage of this week's NCAA Playoff game with Bethel (Minn.).

Flagship station WDPN 1310 AM in Alliance will originate the signal with longtime play-by-play voices Ric Brienza and Mark Grossman on the call. The broadcast begins with the pregame show this Saturday at 11:30 am and will also be streamed on the Internet at Mount Union's athletics website - athletics.mountunion.edu

"This agreement will allow alumni, parents and fans thoughout northeast Ohio and northwestern Pennsylvania the chance to listen to Mount Union football on the radio," stated Lenny Reich, sports information director at Mount Union.

WANR 1570AM The Blizzard is a classic top-40, news and sports station based in Warren, Ohio.

"The unprecedented success of Mount Union football is something we feel our audience will embrace and adds to the long standing football legacy of the Mahoning Valley and we look forward to expanding our relationship in the years to come," commented operations director John Caparanis

ESPN 970 AM WFUN is northeast Ohio's home for ESPN Radio and based in Ashtabula, Ohio.

"Mount Union has a tremendous alumni and fan base in northeast Ohio and northwestern Pennsylvania and we are thrilled to be able to allow those and football fans throughout our listening area the chance to follow this great team," said sports director Joe Pete.
