STAA's Innes to afternoons at KILTCourtesy
the Houston Chronicle
(December 10, 2010) A little more than a year after his arrival in Houston, STAA client Josh Innes will move into one of the city’s most listened-to time slots, joining Rich Lord on KILT’s (610 AM) afternoon drive time talk show beginning Tuesday.
Innes will replace Robert Henslee, who will remain as the station’s sports director and will contribute news updates and handle other duties. Mike Meltser will take over the hour-long segment from 10 to 11 a.m. now hosted by Innes. “It’s important that Robert stays with us,” said Gavin Spittle, KILT’s program director. “He’s so big for us behind the scenes and will still have a huge role on the air.” The change will take place as KILT continues to see its onetime significant ratings lead dwindle in afternoon drive time in competition with Houston’s other three sports stations. “I’ve said since day one that we’re the leader, but I don’t want to just be the leader of the sports stations. I want to compete with some of the music stations (for ratings),” Spittle said. Innes, 24, said he will miss working morning drive with Marc Vandermeer and John Lopez and will miss the solo hour at 10 a.m., “but this is an opportunity to grow and work with somebody (Lord) who probably is the most respected talk-show personality in the city. We will excel, and I am looking forward to it.” Read more at
