(December 9, 2010) The National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA) & Hall of Fame has announced its finalists for its 2010 NSSA Awards, which will be presented in Salisbury, NC on May 16, 2011.

Among the familiar names are National Sportscaster of the Year candidates Joe Buck (Fox), Bob Costas (NBC/MLB Network), NSSA Hall of Famer Al Michaels (NBC) and Jim Nantz (CBS), and National Sportswriter of the Year candidates Rick Reilly (espn.com) and Bob Ryan (Boston Globe). Joining Buck, Costas, Michaels and Nantz are Jon Miller (ESPN, San Francisco Giants), Dan Patrick (Premiere Radio Networks, DirecTV) and Mike Tirico (ESPN/ABC). Reilly and Ryan are joined on the final ballot by Peter King (Sports Illustrated), Joe Posnanski (Sports Illustrated), Bill Simmons (espn.com), Gary Smith (Sports Illustrated) and Tom Verducci (Sports Illustrated).

Reilly and Ryan also headline the Hall of Fame Sportswriter candidates, along with Mitch Albom (Detroit Free Press, book author), John Feinstein (Washington Post) and Hal McCoy (Dayton, OH Daily News).

Costas and Nantz are joined on the Hall of Fame Sportscaster ballot by Marv Albert (NBC, TNT, others), Chris Berman (ESPN/ABC), Woody Durham (Univ. of North Carolina play-by-play), Brent Musburger (ABC/ESPN/CBS) and Bob Uecker (Milwaukee Brewers play-by-play).

There are also dozens of State Sportscaster and Sportswriter candidates. Voting continues through the end of December. Winners will be announced in mid-January.
