Billikens basketball staying on 101 ESPNPress Release
(November 11, 2010) Saint Louis University's department of athletics today announced an agreement with Bonneville St. Louis that will keep Billiken men's basketball on 101.1 FM ESPN in St. Louis through the 2012-13 season.
"We are thrilled to continue our partnership with 101 ESPN," Saint Louis University director of athletics Chris May said. "Led by general manager John Kijowski, 101 ESPN has established itself as the leader in sports talk in the St. Louis marketplace. Our association with the station will provide great exposure for the University and Billiken athletics alike. 101 ESPN's 100,000-watt FM signal, in addition to its online presence, provide multiple platforms for our fans across the country to follow the Billikens. Also, we're proud that Billiken fans will be able to enjoy Bob Ramsey's energetic calls as well as Earl Austin's insightful analysis." "101 ESPN is pleased about our contract extension with Saint Louis University and Billiken men's basketball," Kijowski said. "This partnership has been a good one for Bonneville St. Louis and 101 ESPN, and we're excited about the upcoming seasons of Billiken basketball." "We couldn't be more enthusiastic about extending the partnership with Saint Louis University, and that both Bob Ramsey and Earl Austin Jr. will continue in their roles with the Billiken basketball organization," 101 ESPN program director Jason Barrett said. "As the leading source for sports radio in St. Louis, we feel it is very important to be able to bring our local `hometown' college basketball games to the St. Louis listening audience." Bob Ramsey returns for his 25th season as the "Voice of the Billikens." Earl Austin Jr. returns for his 20th year as an analyst. 101 ESPN will also carry a 20-minute pre-game show and a 25-minute post-game show for each Billiken basketball game. Beginning January 2011, SLU head coach Rick Majerus will make a regular weekly appearance on "The Bernie Miklasz Show." _______________________
