(November 1, 2010) ESPN’s Chris Mortensen declared on Sunday that Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre will not be suspended by the NFL for sending inappropriate messages and pictures to Jenn Sterger of the Jets two seasons ago.

But CBS-TV’s Charley Casserly said Sterger is prepared to contradict Favre’s denial that he sent inappropriate pictures to her.

Adam Schefter of ESPN set up Mortensen’s remarks by saying Sterger is expected to meet with the league, according to Sterger’s attorney.

“Her attorney, Joe Conway, said (Saturday) he fully expects his client to meet with the NFL later this week. The NFL is unaware of any meeting at this point. It could be another attempt to ratchet up the public pressure on Favre to bring about a settlement this week. Right now Joe Conway is saying his client Jenn Sterger will go in to talk to the NFL this week.”

Mortensen suggested league officials may have an issue with Sterger’s reliability as a witness.

“This is now a skeptical NFL as it relates to Sterger,” Mortensen said. “Clearly they have not lined anything up definitely. I know for a fact that NFL security wants her cell phone that she had back then. They wants SIM card. They want here cell phone records. And even then they want to know why she didn’t file a complaint or air her complaint back in 2008. I don’t think Favre gets suspended for this no matter what happens.”

Casserly said Sterger definitely is going to meet with league officials on Thursday or Friday.

“In that meeting what she is going to do is contradict Favre’s statement where he denied sending her illicit pictures,” Casserly said. “Next, Sterger’s group has identified an ex-Jet employee who passed along Sterger’s number to Favre without her consent. Another note. Sterger’s group is going to speak this week with somebody who can verify who the ex-Jet employee was and possibly has some other information that can help Sterger’s case. Also Sterger is considering suing the Jets and/or Brett Favre.”
