(October 28, 2010) he Atlanta Tipoff Club on Thursday named broadcasting legend Dick Enberg and Hall of Famer Cheryl Miller its 2011 Naismith Outstanding Contributor to Basketball award recipients.
The Naismith Outstanding Contributor Award is presented annually to individuals whose extraordinary efforts have made contributions of outstanding significance and have created a long-lasting positive impact on the game of basketball. After playing basketball for Central Michigan University and earning a master’s degree from the University of Indiana, Dick Enberg started his broadcast career calling games for the California Angels, Los Angeles Rams and UCLA Bruins basketball. He went on to win 13 Emmy Awards, nine National Sportscaster of the Year awards and the 1995 Curt Gowdy Media Award. Enberg will be honored at the Atlanta Tipoff Club’s College Basketball Preview Luncheon on Nov. 1 at the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel. Read more at
