ESPN 1050 looking to youth

(October 25, 2010) ESPN-1050's decision to move Ryan Ruocco and Robin Lundberg into its 10-11 a.m. slot, replacing Seth Everett, seems like a minor, cosmetic transaction.

It's not. Anyone working at the station better have their eyeballs on a swivel when these young, 20-something, cats approach. Me thinks they are on a fast track.

These punks are now camped out in two Emergency Broadcast Signal dayparts (5 a.m.-6 a.m. is the other), but the fact they dwell in total obscurity can't hide their sound. One that's totally different than anything else coming out of ESPN-1050.

They are irreverent, but don't dish contrived stupidity. They deliver original/quirky opinion. They can be creative - okay, sometimes. One huge drawback is they need to figure how to bring out the hate in people.

Lundberg should consult with MeMax Kellerman on that subject. Lundberg served as a loyal latrine cleaner in The Kellerman Radio Army. Anyway, Ruocco and Lundberg got much going for them - including the ages on their birth certificates.

They could be the future of a radio station in desperate need of one.
