ORU renews broadcast dealsCourtesy

(October 7, 2010) Oral Roberts University Athletics has renewed its television and radio contract with Fox College Sports and The Sports Animal, respectively.
For the third straight year Fox College Sports, along with Golden Eagle Broadcasting, will televise nearly every ORU men’s basketball home games. A total of 11 games will be shown on the national sports network, including all nine Summit League contests. Fox College Sports will televise all games live nationally on cable and satellite systems across the country. ORU will once again partner with Golden Eagle Broadcasting and Tulsa affiliate KGEB to televise all home games locally on a tape-delayed basis at 10:30 p.m. each game night. Golden Eagle Broadcasting will televise all games live through DirecTV channel 363. University Media Productions will handle production duties for all broadcasts. KOTV sports anchor Chad McKee will handle the majority of play-by-play duties, with Cox Communications sports personality Mike Wolfe serving as fill-in. Former Golden Eagle standout Mickey Michalec and veteran analyst Bryndon Manzer return for their third seasons as color commentators. On the radio side, The Sports Animal Tulsa will carry all men’s basketball games and The ORU Coaches Hour weekly show on Tuesday nights from 6-7 p.m. on KYAL 97.1 FM during basketball season. Women’s basketball and baseball games will be carried on 1550 AM, with select broadcasts simulcast on 97.1 FM. The Sports Animal Tulsa is comprised of three stations: 97.1 FM (100,000 watts), AM 1550 (2,500 watts daytime), and AM 1490 (1,000 watts), giving it the strongest sports-radio presence in Oklahoma. Veteran broadcaster and STAA client Geoff Haxton will handle play-by-play duties for all three sports, as well as serving as host for The ORU Coaches Hour. Haxton first joined ORU prior to the 2005-06 season as baseball and women’s basketball play-by-play announcer. He added men’s basketball duties in 2007-08. Read more at
