(October 5, 2010) In my capacity as Official Washington Post Reporter of D.C. Sports Talk Radio, I think it's incumbent upon me to pass along Tuesday's release from Red Zebra. The broadcasting network announced that it has re-signed Tony Kornheiser to a two-year deal that will keep his show on ESPN 980, where it airs from 10-noon daily.

"Tony is a very important part of our franchise, and having him in the fold makes our brand even stronger," Red Zebra acting CEO Rick Carmean said in the release.

"Tony's show is one of the most popular shows on the radio, not just in D.C. but nationwide," Red Zebra director of programming Chuck Sapienza said in the release. "His fans will be happy to know that not only will his show remain the same, but Tony's program is streamed and available for download at ESPN980.com."

By the way, I've been meaning to include Kornheiser's PTI thoughts on Gilbert Arenas at media day. This seems as good a time as any.

"He's an actor," Tony said. "This is a character he is now playing, like Agent Zero and all the other characters he's had to this point. he comes in with a beard, he comes in with a new number....So if you think that Gilbert's not gonna change and not gonna be the old Gilbert, that's in his DNA. Eventually we will see that guy."

Couldn't agree more.
