(September 16, 2010) Shannon Sharpe, a studio analyst for CBS Sports' "The NFL Today," has taken a leave of absence from the show.

On Friday, in the blog sportsbybrooks.com, it was reported that Sharpe had been served a temporary restraining order by a court in Atlanta.

Michele Bundy petitioned a judge in Fulton County Superior Court in Atlanta for a protective order. Bundy alleges Sharpe forced her to have sex with him, has repeatedly threatened her life and stalked her.

A judge ordered Sharpe to not contact Bundy or her immediate family and to stay at least 200 yards away from her. Sharpe has not been arrested or charged with any crime.

A hearing has been scheduled for Monday in Superior Court in Atlanta, where Sharpe resides.

"We accept Shannon's decision and decline to comment further on a pending legal matter," said LeslieAnne Wade, CBS Sports senior vice president of communications.

Sharpe did work Sunday on "The NFL Today."

Sharpe, 42, joined CBS in 2004, replacing Deion Sanders, who returned to play in the NFL. Sharpe played tight end in the NFL from 1990-2003. He spent most of his career with the Denver Broncos and played two seasons in Baltimore. In 2009, Sharpe was one of 17 finalists for enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but he was not voted for the honor in his first year of eligibility.

For now, CBS Sports does not plan to replace Sharpe. "The NFL Today" will go with three analysts instead of four - Dan Marino, Bill Cowher and Boomer Esiason will provide commentary, while James Brown serves as host.
