(September 16, 2010) Brian Sinkoff, whose duties as program director at WTMM (104.5) will be assumed by Brian Noe beginning Monday, said the plan all along has been for him to be solely a show host.

It just took awhile before he shed the program director’s title.

“When I was hired in April of ‘08, they knew I wasn’t a radio guy and I was hired as a host,” said Sinkoff, whose position as WTEN (Ch. 10) was eliminated in early 2008. “They only gave me the program director duties because I was the only guy on the staton. It was also in the middle of a fiscal year.

“If the station had a full-time program director when I came aboard and they hired me just as the show host, That’s what it all boiled down to.”

Sinkoff said that Noe’s hiring was not a demotion, nor did it result in a pay reduction.

“Sound-Off With Sinkoff” will continue to air between 3 and 7 p.m. weekdays. Noe will have his own show in the 1-3 p.m. weekday slot.

“I knew full well a couple of years ago that they would eventually bring in a PD and someone to do an early afternoon show,” Sinkoff said. “Two and a half years ago, when they didn’t have any local programming, there was no face of the station. They hired me to do that.

“The bottom line is now I’ll be able to focus on being that 3-7 afternoon show host. That will be where my focus lies. Before it was balancing the program director’s duties and the show-host duties. Now it’s concentrate on the show.”
