(September 15, 2010) The "Voice of the Suns" Al McCoy told Sports 620 KTAR's Doug & Wolf on Wednesday that he has decided to carry a lighter work load for the upcoming 2010-11 season.

McCoy plans to reduce his travel and will skip select East Coast road trips.

"In the world of broadcasting it's become pretty commonplace for broadcasters to have a day off every once in awhile," he said in referring to Diamondbacks broadcasters taking a few days off during the season as well as mentioning that Vin Scully hasn't been back east with the Los Angeles Dodgers for years. "In talking to the Suns in the summer months, I said 'it's getting a little tiresome sometimes to pack all these clothes and go back east when it's snowing and five above zero, maybe it's time for me to take a few games off during the season.'"

Filling in for McCoy and his play-by-play duties will be veteran broadcaster and STAA client Jeff Munn.

"Jeff is very well known and does such a great job with whatever he does," he said.

It will be the 41st straight season all Phoenix Suns games will be broadcast on the Suns flagship station, Sports 620 KTAR.
