(September 13, 2010) 87.7 The TICKET will serve as the new radio home for the Pioneer hockey program for the next two seasons, the University of Denver and Front Range Sports Network announced today.
"We are thrilled to partner with the premiere college hockey team in the WCHA and in all of college hockey," Front Range Sports Network Operations Manager/Program Director Tim Spence said. "The DU hockey program led by head coach George Gwozdecky is a perennial national contender, and we're pleased to welcome them as 87.7 The TICKET's first flagship sports play-by-play program." All 36 regular-season games as well as WCHA and NCAA postseason games will be carried live on 87.7 The TICKET, which is Denver's newest sports radio station. Jay Stickney begins his 11th season calling the play-by-play action for the Pioneers. "We are excited to announce 87.7 The TICKET as the new home for DU hockey," Gwozdecky said. "For the first time in many years, all of our regular-season and postseason games with be aired on one sports radio station for the next two seasons. Our fans are going to appreciate one single FM radio home for DU hockey." DU's 36-game schedule is highlighted by home games against defending NCAA champion Boston College, NCAA runner-up Wisconsin, in-state rivals Colorado College and Air Force, and NCAA Tournament participants St. Cloud State, Bemidji State and Northern Michigan.
