(September 7, 2010) Joe Thesimann will be back on air this season calling NFL games.

NFL Network spokesman Dennis Johnson confirmed Sunday that Theismann, dropped from ESPN's Monday night games in 2007, will work NFLN's eight late-season prime-time games. Theismann will work in a three-man booth with NFLN's returning play-by-play announcer Bob Papa and analyst Matt Millen.

NLFN's games, which start with Baltimore-Atlanta on Nov. 11, are all on Thursday nights except a Saturday night Dallas-Arizona game on Christmas.

Theismann, who will continue appearing on NFLN's NFL Playbook show on Thursdays, says "I don't really know the thought process" behind NFLN hiring him for its games.

"But I'm ecstatic, I really am." He says he's known Millen for "over 30 years" and working with Papa calling last season's international TV feed of the Super Bowl.
