(August 30, 2010) Sports-talk show radio host Marc Benarzyk and ESPN 1040-AM have mutually agreed to part ways.

Benarzyk, who hosted an afternoon drive time show on 1040-AM since April of 2008, met with the station's management Monday afternoon and it was decided that Bernarzyk would not continue with his show effectively immediately.

Allan Davis, vice-president/programming for Genesis Communications (which owns 1040-AM), said the station will air ESPN nationally-syndicated shows this week. That includes Scott Van Pelt's show and the Doug Gottleib's show. Davis added that a new local afternoon drive show with a new host will begin Sept. 7 and air during Benarzyk's old time slot of 3 to 7 p.m.

Davis said he would announce the new host later this week. Benarzyk, meantime, said he is considering other offers at this time.
