(August 25, 2010) When Dick Enberg gave up calling NFL games to become voice of the San Diego Padres, CBS had a coveted opening alongside analyst Dan Fouts on its roster of pro football announcers.
That spot today officially was given to Ian Eagle, who moves from the No. 5 to the No. 3 team. The No. 4 team of Kevin Harlan and Solomon Wilcots was kept intact. Enberg, as he did during Wimbledon, will take a break from the Padres to acll the U.S. Open tennis championships for the network, CBS News and Sports president Sean McManus said today at an NFL seminar. “Ian obviously has distinguished himself in our NFL coverage,” McManus said of Eagle, who also calls Thursday night NFL games for Westwood One radio.
