New voices on MU Football NetworkCourtesy
The Herald Dispatch
(August 23, 2010) Marshall football fans are going to hear a significant change in the Herd's radio network.
Steve Cotton, the long-time "Voice of the Herd," will continue to provide the play-by-play, but the other voices are changing. Frank Giardina, Marshall's associate athletic director, is taking over as the color analyst, replacing Greg Cyrus. Giardina is a veteran radio and television sportscaster. The sideline reporter slot also will have a different voice. Mark Martin, veteran sports director at WCHS-TV in Charleston, will replace Rocky Smith, who filled the role the last few seasons. There also will be changes in the pre-game and post-game shows. Pre-game will be co-hosted by Cotton and award-winning WMUL sportscaster and STAA client Adam Cavalier. But the post-game show will not be on the Herd radio network. Instead, "College Football Wrap-up" will be heard exclusively on The Dawg, 93.7-FM, with Woody Woodrum hosting. He will take calls from fans and also discuss college football around the country. Besides the Herd network's pre-game show, The Dawg also is planning a pre-game broadcast featuring former Marshall coach Bobby Pruett, Marshall athletic director Mike Hamrick, Woody Woodrum, Rocky Smith and yours truly. Hamrick will have his own segment, entitled the "AD's Corner." Pruett will predict the outcome of five significant national games on "Pruett's Picks." And I will predict Conference USA games on "Off the Page With Chuck Landon." There also will be a format change in "The Herald-Dispatch Radio" show. It still will precede the weekly "Doc Holliday Call-In Show" at Gino's Pub, but now it will have a point and counter-point format featuring Hamrick and myself debating issues while Mike Kirtner moderates. The "H-D Radio" show will be broadcast on Super Talk 94.1 FM and WRVC 930-AM. Read more at
