(August 19, 2010) WAVE 3 sportscaster Bob Domine will retire from WAVE 3 TV on September 10, 2010; it was announced today by Regional Vice-President & General Manager Steve Langford.

"Bob Domine has been covering local sports in our community for nearly 4 decades," said Langford. "His sharp wit and wisdom has been an entertaining addition to our WAVE 3 broadcasts. Our WAVE 3 family at the station and throughout the viewing area will truly miss Bob's insights and expertise on the local sports scene."

Bob Domine first joined the WAVE 3 sports team in August 1971. Prior to that, Domine had already scored more than 10 years of experience in reporting sports around the Midwest. Bob started his career back in 1963 working in radio as a sports announcer at WITZ in Jasper, Indiana. He later moved to Rogers City, Michigan where he worked at WHAK radio.

His career was temporarily put on hold until 1970 when he joined the U.S. Army as an aviator at Fort Rucker in Alabama. Captain Domine's military career included a tour of active duty in Viet Nam.

In 1971 he got back into broadcasting by taking a weatherman position at WKZO-TV in Kalamazoo. But after two years Bob missed his true calling of calling the sports. He found his career headed to WMT-TV in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to take on the role of Sports Director. It wasn't long before Bob heard the call of the Bluegrass as he made his way to Louisville to join WAVE-TV as a Sports Anchor and Reporter.

Bob Domine will sign off from his duties as a WAVE 3 sportscaster on September 10, 2010.

WAVE-TV is owned by Raycom Media, Inc., an employee-owned company which is now one of the nation's largest broadcasters. Currently the company owns and/or operates 42 television stations in 18 states. Raycom Media stations cover more than 10.6% of the U.S. television households and employ 3,500 individuals in full and part-time positions. Through Raycom Sports, the company owns and operates the Continental Tire Bowl in Charlotte and two LPGA golf tournaments, as well as produces pre-season NFL football games for non-owned stations.
