Bruce Jacobs joining Sporting News RadioCourtesy

(August 11, 2010) Longtime Phoenix radio personality Bruce Jacobs is back on the airwaves in more than a part-time weekend role.
Jacobs has signed on with Sporting News Radio, and will hold down the weekday 7-10 p.m. Eastern time slot (4-7 p.m. in Phoenix). His show will begin August 30th, which is perfect timing for Jacobs. “I’m very excited to get rolling again here, just in time for the Jets’ Super Bowl year and the great finish by the Mets to win the National League Wild Card race,” he said. While a familiar name and voice to Valley radio listeners since breaking into the market in 1993 on KGME (then 1360 on the AM dial), this isn’t Jacobs’ first foray on a national front. He hosted a morning show on Chicago-based One on One Sports from 1998 until 1999 , and has served as a weekend and fill-in host on Fox Sports Radio based out of L.A. for the last eight years. He was most recently paired with former Pro Bowl offensive tackle Lincoln Kennedy on Saturdays and Sundays on Fox. But Jacobs really made his name in the Valley as the morning show host on News Talk 550 KFYI from 2002 until June of 2009. His background in news talk begs the question, will there be a political tinge to his show on SNR? “Obviously, the main focus will be about sports, but the show will be about anything that sparks my interest– whether it’s politics or pop culture,” Jacobs said. “Nothing is off limits…I can talk about whatever I want.” Locally, you’ll be able to hear the final hour of Jacobs’ show on AM 1060 The Fan Monday through Thursday. The show can also be heard in it’s entirety on satellite radio–Sirius channel 127 or online at SportingNewsRadio.com. Read more at
