(August 9, 2010) David Diaz-Infante, Brian Griese, Mark Jackson, Ed McCaffrey, Rod Smith and David Treadwell.

What do they have in common?

Easy answer, even for lukewarm Broncos fans.

The six also share another association. Last season they worked with Dave Logan at least once in the KOA Radio booth during the Broncos' 16-game regular season.

The appearances: Griese (five), McCaffrey and Treadwell (three each), and Diaz-Infante, Smith and Jackson (one each.) The two other games featured Rockies announcer Jack Corrigan, who showed he knows the difference between an off-tackle slant and a sacrifice bunt.

Diaz-Infante was Logan's full- time partner during four previous seasons, replacing Scott Hastings.

Station management, indicating several months ago that such a revolving booth policy wouldn't continue, has picked Griese as Logan's partner for the 2010 season.

The decision makes sense.

I heard enough of Griese's coverage last season to know the former Denver quarterback is able to dissect offensive and defensive strategies in terms listeners can understand. That's not surprising, because Griese has become a regular analyst and color commentator on ESPN's college schedule.

Griese obviously picked up some broadcasting tips from his father, Bob, a former Purdue and NFL star who's a longtime college football broadcaster.

But Griese's ESPN schedule will keep him off the KOA broadcast of the Broncos' Oct. 31 game in London against the San Francisco 49ers. Treadwell will replace him.

Griese and Treadwell will split Denver's four preseason games, with the former Broncos kicker working road games Sunday at Cincinnati and Sept. 2 at Minnesota.

Griese will be in the KOA booth for the games in Denver — Aug. 21 (Detroit) and Aug. 29 (Pittsburgh).
