(July 21, 2010) Longtime Denver radio and TV broadcaster Les Shapiro has moved to KCUV 102.3 FM, providing the new sports station with another high-profile personality.
Shapiro, who has been teaming with Denver Post reporter Jim Armstrong (7-10 a.m. daily) on KCKK 1510 AM, ended his year-long run Tuesday. A source close to the Denver radio scene said Shapiro will work the 3-7 p.m. daily shift with Rich Goins (the G-Man), formerly on KRFX 103.5 FM, a classic rock outlet. The daytime daily lineup, according to the knowledgeable source: • 7-9 a.m.: Vic Lombardi and Gary Miller, the KCNC-4 sports duo formerly heard on KEPN AM 1600. • 9 a.m.-noon: Chad Andrus and Patrick Watson, most recently at KEPN and KKFN 104.3 FM (The Fan). • Noon-3 p.m.: Charles Johnson and Joel Klatt, former University of Colorado quarterbacks. • 3-7 p.m.: Shapiro and Goins. • 7-10 p.m.: Nate Kreckman of "The Klatt and Kreckman Show" left KCKK (Mile High Sports Radio) last week. KCUV's overnight and weekend schedules, to be heavy on syndicated talk programming, are still being formulated. James Merilatt, KCKK's station manager, confirmed that Tuesday was Shapiro's final day, adding: "The new lineup on Mile High Sports radio should be in place by Monday." The lineup on KCUV, currently a rock outlet, tentatively was scheduled to be unveiled this week. The new target date is Monday. Tom Manoogian, KCUV station manager, didn't respond to telephone calls Tuesday. Read more at
