(July 21, 2010) Bill Riley is once again the radio voice of the Utes.
The Utah athletic department is set to name Riley as their new play-by-play announcer for Utah football and men’s basketball games on Wednesday. The move marks a return to the Utah play-by-play chair for Riley, who called Ute football and basketball games during the 2006-07 season. “I am thrilled beyond belief at the opportunity to be the voice of the University of Utah,” Riley said in a statement. “It truly is a dream job for me and the highlight of my career. I look forward to helping grow the Utah brand throughout the state and the region.” In addition to calling the game action, Riley will host the pre-game and post-game shows for all Utah football and men’s basketball games. He will also host the Kyle Whittingham and Jim Boylen Coach’s Show each week during the season. Riley, the play-by-play voice for Real Salt Lake since the Major League Soccer club’s 2005 inception, will continue in that role. He also will continue to host his 2-6 p.m. weekday show on ESPN 700.
