(July 20, 2010) The Edmonton Oilers announced today they have extended their agreement with Edmonton’s leading full time hockey analyst Bob Stauffer.

Stauffer will continue his duties as the colour analyst and host of all ‘Oilers on 630 CHED’ as well as host of ‘Oilers Lunch’ on The TEAM 1260.

“Oilers fans are passionate about their team and Bob provides them with all the Oilers news they can handle. As our radio color commentator on 630 CHED and the Oilers radio network and the fan’s favorite insider, Bob engages the team, the players and the fans like never before” said Oilers’ President and Chief Executive Officer, Patrick LaForge. “We love his tireless energy and his dedication to the fans.”

Almost as important, Stauffer will carry on as host of the highly successful ‘Oilers Lunch’, heard week days between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on The TEAM 1260 am radio.

LaForge added, “As, the audience for Oilers Lunch’ grows, we think Bob’s depth, research and knowledge of Canada’s game means he has much more to contribute as we continue to develop all of our radio and media components.”

Stauffer started his broadcast career as a volunteer at CJSR radio Edmonton, eventually becoming a Communications Officer for University of Alberta Athletics, where he specialized as the play-by-play commentator for the Golden Bear’s hockey and football teams. He has also worked in various capacities with ITV (now Global TV), Molstar, ESPN, Fox, Hockey Night in Canada and Sportsnet.

With today’s announcement that Bob Stauffer’s will anchor the Oilers radio broadcasts one half of the broadcast crew for next season is in place. The naming of a new play by play Oilers radio voice will be made later this summer.
