(July 16, 2010) STAA client Andy Furman’s weekend try-out on Fox Sports Radio has turned into a weekly gig. Furman, heard 5-7 p.m. weekdays on “Real Talk” WQRT-AM (1160), will take over “Fox Sports Saturday” with Sean Farnham, a Los Angeles-based Fox Sports reporter, starting noon-4 p.m. Saturday. It will air here on Clear Channel’s WSAI-AM (1360).

Furman’s Saturday lineup this week: Unemployed NFL receiver Terrell Owens; golf analyst Steve Sands; baseball commentator and former Reds pitcher Rob Dibble; NBA analyst Rick Kamla; and Kirk Walker, the openly gay Oregon State University softball coach.

Annie Zidarevich, Fox Sports Radio Network director, says Furman will be in the time slot until further notice. Furman and Farnham subbed for Dan Moriarty and Derrick Deese on July 3. Furman, 60, filled in for Fox Sports Radio’s morning host Steven A. Smith on May 26.

The Brooklyn native and Florence resident has done radio sports talk here for most of the last 20 years on WLW-AM, WQRT-AM and the short-lived “Supertalk96.5FM” talk format on WFTK-FM (96.5), now “96Rock.” Furman and Cris Collinsworth replaced Bob Trumpy as WLW-AM’s “SportsTalk” host in 1990.
