(July 15, 2010) “Voice of the Missouri Tigers” Mike Kelly and former Rams and Chiefs Pro Bowl quarterback Trent Green will team to broadcast for the Chiefs Television Network.

They will broadcast all Chiefs preseason games in HD to 10 affiliates in a five-state region.

“I was contacted in February by Bobby Totsch and was asked to send some stuff (audition tapes) to the Chiefs. I have signed on to do the four preseason games and am looking forward to it,” Kelly said.

Bobby Totsch is the Vice President and General Manager of KCTV-5 in Kansas City which will carry the Chiefs preseason games.

Last year, veteran broadcaster Kevin Harlan did a couple of games. Dave Anderson did the other two and the Chiefs wanted someone who could handle all four contests, plus spend time with the team in training camp in St. Josephs, Mo. It was then that Kelly’s name crossed the table.

“It will be a little different than driving two miles down the road to watch a Tigers practice. I’ll drive three hours to spend time with the Chiefs and get to know the players,” Kelly said.

“Trent Green is such a great guy and most importantly I am looking forward to working with him.”

Green concluded his 16-year NFL playing career in 2008 and launched his NFL broadcasting career with FOX Sports in 2009.

Kelly was named the “Voice of the Missouri Tigers” in ’94 after beginning his broadcast duties with Missouri basketball during the ’90-91 campaign. In total, the Dupo, Illinois native has called more than 700 Mizzou football and basketball games. Kelly has called NFL and NCAA games for CBS Radio, and also owns experience broadcasting Major League Baseball contests for the St. Louis Cardinals.

Kelly doesn’t anticipate things being much different than the telecasts he’s done for the Missouri Tigers in the past, although it will be much different than doing a game on the radio. And this will not affect his schedule doing Tigers games in 2010.

Would doing NFL games be something of interest for him in the future?

“Only the good Lord knows. I am pretty much a day-to-day person. I am extremely proud and content with my relationship with Mizzou. That is something I would love to do as long as the Lord will allow me too,” Kelly said.
