(July 12, 2010) Sports anchor/reporter Tara Pachmayer is gone from WKRC-TV (Channel 12). Staffers were told Friday that she’s no longer employed there after four years. Her bio has been removed from the website, but things are still on her desk and her voice mail still works, so whatever happened came down quickly. It’s also unusual for a TV station to fire anyone during a ratings period (July is a Nielsen month, though not considered very important). She anchored weekends, and also for the 10 p.m. news on the CW Cincinnati Channel 12.2, plus did reporting.

News director Elbert Tucker won’t say anything more than confirm that she’s gone: “Tara is no longer with the station as of today. We can not discuss personnel matters any further. We wish her all the best. The search for her replacement is underway.”

Her firing came several weeks after her wedding… and a few weeks before Bengals begin training camp. Local 12 now has only one sports anchor/reporter in Sports Director Brad Johansen. Pachmeyer, a 1995 Princeton High School graduate, was hired in June 2006 to replace Harvey Smilovitz. After graduating from UK in 1999, she worked as an off-camera sports producer for Channel 12 for three years, then went to a Memphis TV station for four yearsof on camera experience.

I wonder if periodic fill-in anchor Richard Skinner, the former sports talk radio host who appears on the Sunday night “Sports Authority” show, or Fox 19’s Zach Wells is on the short list?
