(June 23, 2010) David Smoak is back on the air.

Smoak has taken the job as Sports Director and Programming Director at Waco's ESPN 1660 AM, and will debut his new radio show next Monday.

"There's not another word bigger than great for this," David told me. "The timing couldn't be more perfect, it's incredible. I wasn't expecting this when it happened, but it all came together. I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity."

In addition to his own website, Smoaky.com, Smoak has been on the air in East Texas over the past thirty years at KLTV, KETK, and KTBB, where he was the host of "David Smoak's Sportstalk" for nineteen years.

"The thing that's completely different from when I started in 1990 in Tyler, the foundation here has already been laid. In 1990 with putting the show on the air, it was like delivering a baby. Here, this is like renovating a house. All the pieces are here, we've just got to tweak some things."

Smoak's show begins Monday, the 28th. It will run from 3-6pm, and also feature Butch Henry and Paul Catalina.
