Leuthner to call Lady Blues soccer gamesPress Release
(June 14, 2010) The Hudson Valley Quickstrike Lady Blues are proud to announce that every home game during the 2010 season will be broadcast live on USL Live, the official video website of the United Soccer Leagues.
In addition, select road games will also air on USL Live (www.usllive.com), allowing Lady Blues fans to follow their team on the road. Games will also be available on demand, along with player interviews and other features. The announcement sets a precedent for W-League teams, allowing the Lady Blues to be seen from anywhere in the world that has an Internet connection. “We are very proud that we can offer our fans the opportunity to watch all of our games live on USL Live,” said Hudson Valley Quickstrike Lady Blues General Manager Joseph Belsito. “We continually strive to provide our players, fans and sponsors with a top-notch soccer organization and offering this live video feed is another example of that commitment to excellence.” STAA client Bret Leuthner will serve as the play-by-play voice of the Lady Blues. Leuthner has experience calling Women’s Professional Soccer games for Sky Blue FC, has done play-by-play for Sports in the Garden State and Sportsnet America, and hosts the Bret Leuthner Sports Program on UStream.tv. He was also named the YouCastr.com 2008 Caster of the Year. “This is a very exciting project, especially with such a quality organization like the Hudson Valley Quickstrike Lady Blues,” Leuthner said. “Just being able to give fans, families and players that experience on USL Live is great.” Last Sunday’s home opener against the Long Island Rough Riders – a 2-0 win for the Lady Blues – was broadcast on USL Live as well. The broadcasts will continue Sunday when the Lady Blues host the New Jersey Rangers in a battle for first place at 5 p.m. at Newburgh Free Academy. About the Hudson Valley Quickstrike Lady Blues: Founded in December 2008, the team competes in the USL W-League, the highest level of semi-professional women’s soccer in North America and one tier below Women’s Professional Soccer. The Quickstrike Lady Blues are affiliated with Sky Blue FC, 2009 WPS Champions. In the team’s first season of competition, the Hudson Valley won the 2009 W-League Regular Season Championship, the 2009 W-League Organization of the Year Award and the 2009 W-League Communications Award. _______________________
