(June 11, 2010) Bob Bell, whose radio and television broadcast career spanned more than 50 means in Middle Tennessee, died today at his Springfield residence.
Bell, 73, spent 25 years as a fixture on WSIX, later WNGE, broadcasting news, weather and sports. For 15 years, he hosted a sports radio talk show on WLAC radion in Nashville. Bell was also the play-by-play announcer for pay-per-view television telecasts of Tennessee football games for 15 seasons, following four seasons as the host of a post-game scoreboard show for Tennessee. A memorial service honoring Bell is to be held Sunday at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Cross Plains with visitation from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at 4 p.m. Memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church or to the Robertson County Humane Society. _______________________
