Jeff McCarragher new voice of CougarsPress Release
Kirkman Broadcasting and the College of Charleston Athletic Department today jointly announce the hiring of Jeff McCarragher as the Director of Broadcasting for the Cougar Radio Network.
McCarragher, a sports broadcasting veteran with over 13 years in radio and television, comes to Charleston with an extensive play by play resume including Southern Conference experience. His stops include multi-year stints as the voice of UNC-Greensboro basketball, the lead announcer for the Norfolk Tides (AAA – NY Mets) and the Greensboro Bats, as well as television broadcasts for the University of Kansas women’s basketball team. "Jeff has a terrific radio background and voice,” says College of Charleston Director of Athletics Joe Hull. “He will be a good fit for the College of Charleston. He is excited about joining the Cougars and we are delighted he will be on our team." McCarragher spent the last four years in Kansas City, KS. While there he spent two years as the pregame show host for the Kansas City Royals and co-host of the morning talk show on 610 Sports. He also graced local television for two years as the Sports Anchor on the ABC television affiliate in Topeka, where he was honored by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters with the 2006 Sportscast of the Year - medium market television. “Cougar fans will be thrilled with the expertise, enthusiasm and professionalism that Jeff brings to the microphone,” says Gil Kirkman, owner and CEO of Kirkman Broadcasting. “I’ve been in this business for over 27 years and Jeff is truly one of the most outstanding young men we’ve been able to hire. We look forward to hearing him call Cougar games for years to come and thank Sportscasters Talent Agency of America (STAA) for helping us find him.” McCarragher will be the primary contact and lead salesman for all aspects of the Cougar Radio Network on top of his duties as the play by play announcer for all College of Charleston basketball and baseball broadcasts.
